Eagle Insurance presents high school girls soccer tonight as Naples hosts Marcus Whitman in Finger Lakes West action.
Naples girls soccer (5-0) survived a scare against Marcus Whitman (1-4) last Saturday to remain unbeaten, while Bloomfield (3-2) is coming off of their second loss of the season after being blanked by Honeoye (also last Saturday).
The Big Green was without the services of a couple key components to their game plan in Kasey Hall and Lillian Pridmore, and Whitman took full advantage of that fact as they ramped up the physicality in attempting to control the middle.
It seemed as if the Whitman game plan was working as the score was tied 1-1 until Carolelyn LaPrairie was able to let go from the front to bury her second goal of the day with 2:59 left to play.
Both goalies earned their keep with Whitman’s Abby Kornbau (Soph) making 14 saves, and Jesse Gordon (Junior) making 12 stops for Naples.
Sutton Spoons Player Of The Game was Grace Uhlen from Naples for her stepping up to help fill the void by Hall’s absence, and her gritty performance.
After winning three straight and allowing just one goal in those three games, the Bombers allowed three goals in being shutout by Honeoye (4-1) whose lone loss was at the hands of Naples back on the 10th at home.
Naples has outscored opponents 15-7 while winning three games on the road, and two at home. Leading the offense for Naples is LaPrairie with 7g/1a/15p.
Bloomfield is 2-1 at home, and 1-1 on the road having won at Whitman. Junior Cam Lewis scoring for Bloomfield with five goals.
Naples holds on to their lead in the C2 standings over Geneseo who is unbeaten and has outscored opponents 36-0. Bloomfield is in 7th place in C1 standings.
In Finger Lakes standings Naples is first, and Bloomfield is third behind Honeoye.
The Bloomfield Player Of The Game is sponsored by Believe Essential Oils Finger Lakes.
