GAME PREVIEW: Naples BS vs Bloomfield

The Section V soccer season is at the midway point, and while the weather begins to cool down, the action on the pitch is heating up.

Naples boys soccer (4-0) had been self-quarantining and have not played a competitive game in nearly two weeks. While the Big Green has been itching to get back on Schenk Field at Naples Community Park, the Bloomfield Bombers (4-2) will be in the valley on Tuesday.

Bloomfield will be looking to avenge a 3-0 season opening loss to Naples back on October 3rd. Junior Owen Hulbert was the Excelsior 17 Studios Player Of The Game knocking down two goals for Big Green.

“Feel bad Ryan and his team have had to quarantine, but he will have his kids ready no doubt. We always play Naples physically and expect a physical game tomorrow. I played against coach Schenk in Naples in the late 80’s, and it’s always a tough game down in Naples. Win or lose, it’s always fun to go to Naples cause you always have your hands full, not with grapes but 11 green guys coming at ya.” Head Coach Scott Kimball said.

While Naples comes into the contest unbeaten, with not having seen competitive action one has to ponder if there will be some green colored rust that they will have to shake off against a team that has won their last four straight, including a road game at Honeoye.

“The boys are all healthy and ready to go. They are excited to get back onto the field. I’m sure we will have a few times where they look a little rusty. Hopefully, they will get right back into it. We have 5 games to play in the next 10 days and Bloomfield always plays a tough game against us. I’m looking forward to the competition” said Naples Head Coach Ryan Betrus.

Bloomfield has 12 goals scored while yielding nine, and Naples has a total of 15 scored and three allowed.

“What I recall about this game at the beginning of the season was how aggressive Naples was in everything that they did. I do not foresee that Bloomfield will allow that to happen again” said Chosen Spot Radio PBP announcer Spazman.

The Bloomfield offense is lead by Senior Ryan Wollschleger with eight goals, and Naples’ leading scorer and field general is Junior Owen Hulbert with eight goals and an assist.

The Naples Sponsor Of The Game is Bob’s Alignment located at 8668 State Route 21. If you have any problems with your ride, take it Bob’s and they will keep you rolling.
